I’m about 7 months late on posting this one, but the Chihuly Exhibit at the MFA was amazing. All the glass sculptures were hand blown and assembled. The colors were really beautiful. Great exhibit if you get an opportunity to see it.
What makes a photo appealing?

So what makes a photo appealing? I think there are certain ‘wow’ factors that make a particular photo stand out. One thing I have found is that great photos have distinct layers portrayed in the scene. They each have a clear foreground, mid-ground, and background. Focus is another key feature of a great photograph. If you glance at a photograph, one thing must jump out at you. Otherwise, the photo is not clear and may be too crowded.

In honor of Veteran’s Day, I took the opportunity of capturing what I thought summed up what this day stood for.

In the town museum, called the Casino, there were many antique ship parts, rich history, and pretty artwork emphasizing Catalina Island. One artwork I found interesting was a painting of one of the busy streets in Avalon. So, I decided to hunt down this particular street in the painting and try to recapture the scene from the same vantage point (I couldn’t find the exact look
). Although I did my best, we can see large differences between current Avalon and the time when the painting was created. Unfortunately, I did not get the name of the artist of the painting (if someone does visit that casino in Avalon, update me of the artist!)
